About the author

Yeon-Koo Che is the Kelvin J. Lancaster Professor of Economic Theory at Columbia University, where he has taught since 2005. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a Fellow of the Society of Advancement of Economic Theory, and a Fellow of Game Theory. He was the inaugural recipient in 2008 of the Cho Rakkyo Prize and the KAEA-MK Prize in 2009, and of nine National Science Foundation grants spanning over 20 years. Professor Che published over 60 papers, on topics ranging from market design, auction theory, law and economics, contest theory, matching theory, and data-driven decision making.
Pierre-André Chiappori is the E. Rowan and Barbara Steinschneider Professor of Economics at Columbia University (New York). His areas of research include the economics of the family and the economics of risk and insurance. He has authored or co-authored several books and more than 150 articles published in international journals. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, the European Economic Association, the Society of Labor Economists, the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory and the Institut Bachelier. He is an elected member of the French Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.Bernard Salanié is the Sami Mnaymneh Professor of Economics at Columbia University, where he has taught since 2005. He was elected a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2001 and he served as its Executive Vice-President from 2014 to 2018. He is also an elected Fellow of the International Association for Applied Econometrics and of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory. Professor Salanié is the author of three graduate textbooks and more than 80 papers. His research interests range from microeconomic theory to econometric methods. His best-known contributions investigate asymmetric information, behavior under risk, and matching.
