This work offers a compendium of essential indications and suggestions to make your way in the art market. It is a book that is both comprehensive and agile, full of information and advice, relevant keys that address all aspects that affect both the collector and the art dealer, with a logical and emotional approach and an eye on the buyer. From the arduous question 'what is art' to the book's more specific topics (how to build an art collection, how to buy a work of art), Pagano lavishes on his broad and deep experience, going into details known only to true experts. However, he also enjoys revealing the tricks, wiles and gimmicks of certain dealers (most perhaps). And, between the serious and the jocular, notions about certifications and appraisals, multiples and auctions flow, sectors less known by most, but necessary, enlivened by punctual and safe arguments, such as those related to painting, in which it is difficult not to be fooled, if you are not a deep connoisseur.
