Rick Kincaid is a tough NYPD detective in Midtown's domestic violence division.

One night in Central Park, he comes upon a young woman saving the life of an elderly man who's had a heart attack. She's dressed in a CPMU (Central Park Medical Unit) shirt with a name tag reading "Alicia," and Rick feels powerfully attracted to the young woman. But when the EMTs arrive, she vanishes in the commotion.

The next day, Rick begins searching for "Alicia," but no one who works in the park will even admit that she exists. Eventually Rick finds her and learns that the powerful attraction is mutual, yet she remains both elusive and frustratingly mysterious about who she really is.

Is it true, as it seems, that she "lives" in the park? Is it possible that she's actually trapped in the park? Could it be, as she believes, that she'll soon be "going back" to wherever she came from?
