"The image at the heart of Danny Dover's opening poem in Flamingo Nation captures exactly the way we all 'search for words under the words when times get hard,' and we each become 'like starving deer . . . pawing for apples at winter's end.' Every poem in this New & Selected volume is precise yet effortless, as surprising as one of those windfall apples that nourishes us at a time when so little can. Danny Dover cares deeply about his readers, crafting poems that help to make our 'hardened world' a better, more compassionate place. As he says in another of his wonderful poems: 'I welcome you the way I welcome the sun.' I'm in love with the light-filled kindness that lives at the center of this life-giving and necessary new book."
-James Crews, author of Unlocking the Heart and Kindness Will Save the World.
