The Amazon is a biome with high biodiversity and a supplier of forest products, which has come under intense pressure in recent decades. However, today some of its socio-environmental value is already known, and with this comes the need to develop mechanisms for a more correct use of resources. To enable these mechanisms to be developed, scientific studies are needed to help with decision-making. This book contains five chapters covering different themes in key municipalities in the Transamazon Region (BR 230). BR 230 (better known as the Transamazon Highway) was opened in the early 1970s with the aim of integrating the Amazon with the rest of the country, and this had serious environmental consequences due to the disorganised use of the land, consequences that are still being felt today. In this book the reader will find studies on forests and their use, which will allow them to develop new studies or even create some mechanism that will favour a more concentrated use of forest and socio-environmental resources in this or other regions.
