This work is a translation of the Xiang'er commentary to the Daodejing and Jao Tsung-i's (1917-2018) supplemental notes and analysis. The Xiang'er commentary is associated with Celestial Masters Daoism, a religious movement arising in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.

About the author

David Chai is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Series Editor of Daoism and the Human Experience (Bloomsbury Academic), Prof. Chai's research focuses on ancient and medieval Chinese philosophy, aesthetics, and comparative philosophy.
