Mazi is a widow with two Birman cats named Thea and Frankie, and a Maltese Shi Tzu dog called Albert. Mazi grew up in a tiny gold town called Gulgong, then moved to Deniliquin NSW, where she lived and was married to Douglas for 56 years. In 2011 she moved to Bacchus Marsh.
