About the author

Heriberto Díaz Velázquez was born in Tenango del Valle, Mexico. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, a master's degree in materials science and engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a PhD in Science (Chemistry) at the University of Ghent, Belgium. Currently, he holds a research position at the Mexican Institute for Petroleum (IMP). His research areas involve organometallic, organic, and hydrothermal synthesis of materials for applications in catalysis and adsorption. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Aberdeen, UK, working in the field of electrocatalysis. One of his main research interests is the chemical transformation of CO2 into value-added chemicals. He also studies the removal of organic contaminants in fuels and the production of clean gasoline through the production of alkylate gasoline with novel catalysts. He has authored several book chapters, reviews, and research papers in the field of fuels and catalytic processes for the production of automotive gasoline. He is currently an editorial board member of the journal Sustainable Chemistry One World.
