The water pump is a critical component in an automobile's cooling system, ensuring the engine operates at an optimal temperature for efficient performance. Understanding and optimizing the structural strength of the water pump housing is essential to ensure its reliability under various operating conditions. The main objective of this project is to design and analyze the water pump housing to withstand bolt preload and static loads generated during pump operation. By accurately predicting the structural strength of the housing, we aim to enhance its durability and performance. A dedicated automotive cooling pump housing was designed using CREO software, considering the requirements of bolt preload and static loads. The designed pump housing was subjected to FEA analysis in ANSYS Workbench software. Various load conditions including bolt preload, pressure, and temperature loads were simulated to evaluate structural deformation and stress distribution. Later, baseline design was optimized based on the FEA results to enhance structural strength under operating conditions.
