LEGAL ASPECTS OF MINING REFORM IN MALI

Mining in Mali goes back a long way, and is now one of the country's main resources. Mining as a whole contributes to wealth generation. It has visible and measurable pecuniary effects. However, there is a lack of regulation of mining companies in Mali, which has a negative impact on the mining sector. The State of Mali's commitment to more effective and efficient legal protection of the mining sector is more than necessary for the country's socio-economic development.

Mr. Ousmane KANOUTE holds a doctorate in private law from the Institut Pédagogique Universitaire de Bamako. He is a legal consultant. He teaches civil law, human rights, economic law and corporate taxation at higher institutes, national vocational training schools and universities in Mali.
