Upcoming missions are looking to push the boundaries of space travel, with plans to cover greater distances and durations than ever before. Both the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and several commercial space companies (e.g., Blue Origin, SpaceX, Virgin Galactic) have started the preparation process for long-distance and long-duration space exploration and are currently planning to explore the inner solar system planets (e.g., Mars) by the 2030s.This review synthesizes developments across the space health continuum including previous studies and unpublished data from NASA, ESA, the Japanese space agency, the Chinese space agency and the United Arab Emirates space agency.
