About the author
Capt. Ashok Menon is from the 1977-78 cohort of Training Ship Rajendra. Since training, he has served in ascending ranks on ocean going vessels and was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1990. He served in this capacity for several years before turning to academia. He is currently the Head of the Department of Nautical Studies at FOSMA Maritime and Research organisation, Kolkata.
