Take a journey through 36 Years in Stone and San Diego with artist Doron Rosenthal. This monograph is a culmination of a life in stone, metal, and glass. It is as much about the process as it is about the work, and the need to create order out of chaos. When Doron was given three weeks to live, he didn't buy it. Besides he wasn't ready and there was much left to do.
An artist's job is to inspire in a way that is new, unique, and interesting. It fills a void that no one knew existed-that's art.

Doron's work began with inspiration that soon evolved into his participation in exhibits, public works, and teaching. He wasn't afraid to put himself out there as an artist, and he experienced success as much as rejection-that process shaped him just as much as his desire to create.
36 Years in Stone chronicles this journey. It is the culmination of one artist's body of work and the desire to pass it on.

About the author

Doron Rosenthal, a Southern Californian, has been inspired by the desert landscape from a young age. Born in Arcadia in 1959, he spent summers traveling from Los Angeles to Nogales, Mexico, where he visited his grandparents. The beauty and purity of the desert moved him in a deep and lasting way that continues to sculpt and shape his work to this day.He first began working in stone in 1979 in Santa Barbara, and moved to San Diego to be closer to the source of stone, the Anza-Borrego desert. His first show at the Natalie Bush Gallery was nationally covered by Art Week and inspired him to continue.
