Recent advances in virtual reality and interactive interfaces have sparked a revolution in the games development sector. However, some technologies have yet to be explored in depth by the industry. This is the case with augmented reality (AR), whose characteristics allow for a new model of interaction between the player and the machine, as well as a differentiated and more intuitive gameplay. This work shows the process of developing the prototype of the Colossus ARena board game - a physical board game that makes use of AR as a mode of graphic generation and virtual interaction - as well as reviewing the technical literature on the topics involved in the project.

About the author










William Xavier de Almeida has a bachelor's degree in Information Systems from UNOESC (Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina). He is a Systems Analyst at UDESC (Santa Catarina State University) and has worked as a teacher in both public and private schools. He is currently studying for a Masters in Education at UFFS (Federal University of the Southern Frontier).
