Disc degeneration (DD) is a phenomenon that occurs naturally around the second decade of life. Degenerative disc disease (DD) is a process of premature and accelerated deterioration of the intervertebral disc. This process is described as an abnormal cell-mediated response that leads to progressive failure of tissue architecture.degeneration of the intervertebral disc is currently defined as an aberrant response of IVD cells to traumatic and/or inflammatory phenomena.it is an abnormal process of progressive deterioration following structural damage. Its origin is multifactorial (environmental and genetic factors), and is characterized by histological, biochemical and physical changes in the IVD. This degeneration is only considered pathological if it leads to a perfectly concordant clinical expression (low back pain with or without radicular pain).
