Information technologies have been growing and developing at a rapid pace. With the creation of 3D virtual world platforms came the possibility of creating a metaphor for the real world. A virtual place where, through the use of avatars, people can meet, get to know different people, visit places like museums and historic cities, talk and learn. This study presents the current scenario of the Microsoft Kinect human-computer interface and introduces it as the main means of interaction between man and machine applied in a 3D virtual world.
