The objective of this research is to understand the effects of precarious working conditions on the health of agricultural workers, specifically Peruvian immigrants in the Azapa Valley in the region of Arica and Parinacota in the extreme north of Chile. The purpose of this study was to describe the frequent health problems they present and how they solve them. This is a descriptive-exploratory qualitative research. The unit of observation was the Peruvian seasonal agricultural workers in a tomato packing house, for data collection the techniques of participant observation and semi-structured interviews were used.

About the author










A social anthropologist from the University of Tarapacá, his work has focused on indigenous communities and migratory movements in northern Chile. He is currently working on his postgraduate thesis project "on the perception of the Chilean population regarding the growing Latin American migration in the city of Arica".
