The link of chess with other spheres of social life is more than evident and grows as the different fields expand and diversify in pedagogy. For example, the use of chess as a didactic tool has become fashionable, so to speak, to work on the cognitive abilities of children. Many countries have already included chess as part of the initial training curriculum, but since centuries ago chess has been part of the cultural environment in many countries and regions. In medieval times it was considered one of the seven virtues that knights should have. Its ludic aspect as a board game together with others such as dice, cards, etc. was part of a variety of activities that were frequently practiced. Many important figures in politics, the arts, scientists, educators, among others, frequently played this game, making it part of their routine and one of their favorite jobs. In this book we intend to make a modest compilation of some of these characters that in some way helped to promote chess.
