Often regarded as the only true manifestation of political pluralism in the contemporary Middle East, the state of Israel has dominated the history and politics of the region for over fifty years. Clive Jones is Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Politics and International Studies, University of Leeds. He is the author of Soviet Jewish Aliyah, 1989–1992, and co-editor of International Security in a Global Age.,
Emma C Murphy is Lecturer in Middle East Politics at the University of Durham. She is the author of Economic and Political Change in Tunisia and co-editor of Economic and Political Liberalization in the Middle East and European Expertise on the Middle East and North Africa.
