This present work focuses on the comparative study of conventional slab structure and post-tension flat slab structure. The model used in this study has a square-shaped configuration. The analysis and design of the slab system are done as per IS 456-2000 and IS 1343-2012. Also, for the finite element method, ETABS software is used. Analysis of the slab system is done by the Direct Design Method and Finite Element Method to compare the results of both methods and find out By comparing the results of bending moments, shear force, and steel area, we determined which slab is the most cost-effective. On the basis of the analysis results, the work discusses the distinctions in a structure's behavior. Direct Design Method is approximate method, but the use of computer software based on finite element analysis is more accurate and can be adopted. Also, we observed that the post-tensioned flat slab is more economical than the RCC flat slab.
