This book, for use by research Master's students required to write a dissertation in the course of their studies, is intended to provide help with thinking and writing. This document should be considered as a aide-mémoire gathering some practical or technical advice taken from the courses and works of some of the authors you will find in the bibliography. In no way does this document, which is highly generalized, replace or take the place of the personalized advice you will receive from your teachers, in particular your director, throughout the preparation of your dissertation. It is deliberately reduced in scope, nor is it intended to compete with the courses given on the subject, or to spare you the essential reading on the subject. Rather, it is intended to provide you with some initial thoughts on methodology, so that you can easily mobilize existing resources on the subject.
