Traditionally, criminal law is applied in times of peace. However, the upsurge in armed conflicts has given rise to a new body of criminal law which is concerned with situations of war. These are General Criminal Law, Special Criminal Law and Judicial Criminal Law of Armed Conflict. The first part, General Criminal Law of Armed Conflict, studies the basic rules and principles applicable to the drafting of criminal laws of armed conflict, the definition of offences under these laws, the criminal liability of alleged offenders and the penalties imposed on them. This work is innovative in that it provides the tools for understanding and explaining the implementation of formal and substantive criminal rules in times of armed conflict, which has not been the case in many previous works.Members of the armed forces, both state and non-state, legal practitioners and researchers in various fields, as well as those subject to the jurisdiction of the courts as a result of armed conflicts, are the real targets of this book.
