G. Henle Publishers is a major player in the music world. It stands for edited sheet music of the highest quality and in elegant design. The idea for this concept came from Günter Henle, a diplomat, industrialist, and politician-not to mention a fantastic pianist. Today the publishing house he ounded in 1948 offers around 1,500 music editions spanning the baroque to the modern period. This volume narrates the history of the publishing house and has been published to commemorate its seventy-fifth anniversary. It covers the early makeshift years, the development of the G. Henle catalog, and the company's rise to international success. It also touches on great artists such as Yehudi Menuhin and Rudolf Serkin who had close ties to the business and its founder. Henle could never have imagined that digital sheet music, among other advances, would one day be available for tablets under his name, but he would have been pleased to see his ideas resonating in the present.
