The Socio-Environmental Function of Property and Environmental Compensation - An analysis of the legality and applicability of environmental compensation from the perspective of Brazilian law

The purpose of compensation measures is to offset the environmental impacts caused by the installation of projects, allowing for environmental protection and at the same time the sustainability of economic development. Given the relevance of the subject, the article addresses the legal nature and applicability of Environmental Compensation, which is a type of compensatory measure provided for in the Brazilian environmental legal system, relating it to the Principle of the Socio-environmental Function of Property.
