Process of formation of a Warao neighborhood, Orinoco Delta, Venezuela - Urban Indians. Ethnographic genesis of the Warao neighborhood of La Horqueta

The purpose of this paper is to show how and what are the causes and effects of the process of transculturation1 and urbanization of a Warao indigenous group in permanent interrelation with a Creole urban center2 and it is based on my doctoral thesis. It was carried out between 1997 and 2001 and is, in fact, an ethnography of the Warao indigenous community residing in the urban center of La Horqueta, Virgen del Valle Parish, Tucupita Municipality, Delta Amacuro State, Venezuela.
