This paper considers the essence and historical prerequisites for the development of domestic criminal legislation concerning the institute of causing death by negligence. In this connection, the separate and the most important periods of the occupation of Central Asia, which influenced the formation of criminal legislation of the modern Republic of Uzbekistan, are taken. In particular, the legal analysis of article 102 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan was carried out, the elements of causing death by negligence - object, objective side and subject, subjective side were analyzed. At the same time, the issues of qualification of causing death by negligence, differentiation of this criminal act from related corpus delicti of crimes have been investigated, court practice in criminal cases has been explained. In addition, the foreign experience concerning the criminal-legal assessment of causing death by negligence is studied, the thoughts on actual examples from the criminal practice of foreign countries are explained.
