About the author










Florence Scovel Shinn was born in Camden, New Jersey, in 1871. In her early years she was an artist and book illustrator, however her middle years saw her become a New Thought spiritual lecturer and metaphysical writer. In 1925, Scovel Shinn published The Game of Life and How to Play It, a short self-help title that brought quiet inspiration and reassurance to millions. Tom Butler-Bowdon is series editor for the Capstone Classics series. He has written Introductions for Capstone editions of Plato's The Republic, Machiavelli's The Prince, Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations, Sun Tzu's The Art of War, Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, and Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.
