He holds a PhD from Copenhagen Business School (CBS), an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and an MA research degree from Aarhus University. Peter has co-authored Reconstructing Security after Conflict: Security Sector Reform in Sierra Leone (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011) and co-edited Policing and the Politics of Order-Making (Routledge, 2015). Paul Jackson is Professor of African Politics at the University of Birmingham. He was formerly the Head of the university's School of Government and Society, and Director of both the International Development Department (University of Birmingham) and the Global Facilitation Network for Security Sector Reform (Institute of Development Studies). Paul has worked within the fields of politics and security for several governments, the UN, the EU and the World Bank. He has sat on the Advisory Board of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, and is a current member of the Folke Bernadotte Institute working group on security-sector reform. He has published extensively on security and development issues.
