He has written a monograph, Michelangelo and the Politics of Art , co-edited a book on vernacular art and literature, and has published essays on Leonardo, Michelangelo, Dürer, Renaissance concepts of style, and Renaissance portraiture. Zusammenfassung Piero della Francesca tried to introduce a new idea of painting. Based on a methodical application of perspective, his work cultivated the illusion that it reported on things found rather than imagined. Piero’s art marked an exception in fifteenth-century culture, with its emphasis on poetic inspiration and the artist’s imagination.
