Einwanderung hinterlasst ihre Spuren in der Struktur der Bevölkerung: Die sich daraus ergebende gesellschaftliche Heterogenitat - die Vielfalt an Sprachen, Religionen und Kulturen - stellt auch die Sozialwissenschaften immer wieder vor neue Herausforderungen. Der Band nahert sich den Themen Migration und Integration aus interdisziplinarer Perspektive. Die Beitrage aus Politologie, Soziologie, Padagogik und Linguistik gruppieren sich um die zentralen sozialwissenschaftlichen Kategorien Biografie, Sprache und Bildung. Die elf Autor(inn)en dieses Bandes prasentieren Ergebnisse qualitativer und quantitativer Studien, von denen sich zahlreiche auf eigene empirische Erhebungen stützen. Andere Beitrage systematisieren bereits vorliegende empirische Untersuchungen und gehen sekundaranalytisch vor. Die Perspektiven der Akteurinnen und Akteure werden in den Aufsatzen ebenso berücksichtigt wie die Rahmenbedingungen, die zu Ausgrenzung und Diskriminierung führen.
