Intergroup Dialogue - Engaging Difference, Social Identities and Social Justice

Befunde über schichtspezifische Differenzen in der Bildungsbeteiligung und im Leistungsvermögen von Schülerinnen und Schülern haben in Deutschland eine lange Tradition. Aber auf welche Weise wirken sich ungleiche Lebensbedingungen von einer Generation zur anderen auf den Erwerb von Handlungskompetenzen und den Bildungserfolg aus?  Zur Beantwortung dieser Frage werden in diesem Buch zunächst die Bemühungen der sozialstrukturellen Sozialisationsforschung diskutiert. Im Zentrum der empirischen Analysen steht dann in Anknüpfung an Modelle der Milieuforschung die Frage nach der empirischen Existenz und der Charakterisierung von Leistungsmilieus. Diese sollen als verbindendes Element zwischen ‚objektiven’ Lebensbedingungen und deren subjektiven Verarbeitung die Auswirkungen von sozialer Ungleichheit auf den Verbleib im Bildungssystem näher aufschlüsseln.

This edited volume provides a thoughtful and comprehensive overview of intergroup dialogue spanning conceptual frameworks for practice, and most notably a diverse set of research studies which examine in detail the processes and learning that take place through dialogue. It was originally published as a special issue of Equity & Excellence in Education.
