Informationen zum Autor Antonio Giordano , M.D., Ph. D., is professor of biology and medical research at Temple University College of Science and Technology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1993 he co-founded the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine. He has been honored as Knight by the president of Italy and is recipient of the National Italian-American Political Action Committee (NIA-PAC) National Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Research. Marcella Macaluso , Ph.D., is associate professor of biology and a researcher in the Hormone-Signaling and Cancer Program of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research at Temple University in Philadelphia. Klappentext The sole resource to focus on cutting-edge biomolecular approaches to cancer therapyPresenting the latest research in cancer biology, Cancer Epigenetics reveals the most promising developments in novel therapeutics and diagnostic options for cancer patients. Featuring contributions from international authorities in diverse disciplines, the book offers clear therapeutic approaches and applications and facilitates collaboration between the basic, translational, and clinical sciences. This volume is divided into five sections:* Epigenetics and cell cycle* Epigenetics and cell development, senescence and differentiation* Epigenetics and gene transcription* Epigenetics and cancer* Epigenetics and anticancer drug development and therapyEmphasizing practical applications of research, Cancer Epigenetics provides comprehensive coverage of therapeutic approaches in clinical testing and at the final stages of pre-clinical development. It also discusses new advances in the development of novel therapeutics, including angiogenesis inhibitors and antiretroviral therapies.Research and clinical oncologists, translational cancer researchers, health professionals dealing with cancer science and therapies, and medical and biomedical science students will rely on this timely and authoritative resource.Cover Art: The cover image shows an original piece of artwork by a renowned Italian artist Lello Esposito. It depicts nucleotides and a tumor cell, which of course relates directly to the theme of this new book. Mr. Esposito dedicated this piece to the Sbarro Health Research Organization. "In summary, this book provides a useful in-depth review of the molecular mechanisms which underpin epigenetic processes, their clinical linkage to cancer, particularly paediatric indications, and the therapeutic potential of targeting epigenetic mechanisms. It is of value to those working in, or entering, this complex and fast-moving field and will be most accessible to those with a biological background and interest." ("ChemMedChem", 1 July 2013) Zusammenfassung Cancer Epigenetics: Biomolecular Therapeutics in Human Cancer is the only resource to focus on biomolecular approaches to cancer therapy. Its presentation of the latest research in cancer biology reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the field and aims to facilitate collaboration between the basic! translational! and clinical sciences.
