Takeshi Hamashita is Professor of History at the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University and the Institute of Oriental Culture, Tokyo University. Mark Selden is Professor of Sociology at Binghamton University and Professional Associate, East Asia Program, Cornell University.
