Valerie Butrón is an educator, author and the co-owner of Tumbao Bilingual Books, a company that is committed to expanding the world of bilingual children's literature to be more inclusive of multiethnic and multilingual families. She provides professional development training in school districts throughout the United States. She teaches courses at University of St. Francis, Governors State University, and Prairie State College. In all of her work Valerie draws from many threads of experiences failing forward, healing and learning as a parent, wife, teacher, and ultramarathoner. She's presented her work at the state, national and international levels, including the International Colloquium on Languages, Cultures, and Identity in Schools and Society in Soria, Spain.
