About the author

Andrew Burrows, MA, DCL, LLM (Harvard), QC (Hon), FBA (the Rt Hon Lord Burrows) is a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Oxford University Law Faculty (where he was previously a full-time law professor) and is a quondam Fellow of All Souls College. He was the first judge of the highest court to be appointed direct from academia. Between 1994 and 1999 he served as a Law Commissioner for England and Wales. He was President of the Society of Legal Scholars 2015-16.
