The present degree work, a case study model, as an alternative to the inhabitants of La Puntilla de la Troncal, the development of family gardens as an alternative to lower the costs of the family basket. The study was carried out in the canton of La Troncal, province of Cañar with the objective of determining the living conditions of the families, incorporating in their daily life a balanced diet with the products of the family gardens implemented for this purpose. The methodology used for this work was the elaboration of descriptive surveys carried out to the inhabitants of the area of the canton. These surveys, once answered, were processed and interpreted by calculating index numbers (percentages) and their interpretation was done by means of pie charts. As a result, the community showed great interest in the development and implementation of the project, since it would provide them with economic alternatives, in addition to strengthening family and community relations in the sector.
