About the author

Agathe Demarais leads the work of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) on geoeconomics. She was previously the global forecasting director of the Economist Intelligence Unit and an economic policy adviser for the diplomatic corps of the French Treasury in Russia and Lebanon.
