Watershed services play an elemental role in the country's heritage, and this in turn maintains the ecology and the very life of living beings, and as we humans are entities governed by a regulated society, we are obliged to preserve it, giving rights to nature, which for the first time is stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador. The State will guarantee the recovery and conservation of nature in order to have access to quality water, this framed in the legal sphere, applying what concerns the protection and care of the basins such as the Organic Law of Water Resources, Uses and Development of Water, its Regulations and others, obliging the appointing authority to create preservation policies with an economic focus, with extreme sanctions in the case of non-compliance of activities where human beings compromise the quality and quantity in the sources of water recharge; because of this, the most important impact on the country's economy is at stake.
