This caringly-produced facsimile edition, with charming cover and interior illustrations by Jessie Wilcox Smith, was originally published in 1912.
The beloved and iconic Christmas poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (more commonly known as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas") was written in 1823 by Clement C. Moore. The poem was an instant sensation and still, two hundred years later, is synonymous with Christmas and embodies many of the characteristics still associated with Santa Claus today.

About the author

Jessie Wilcox Smith (1863-1935) was an American illustrator renowned for her tender depictions of mothers and children. Smith was the second woman inducted into the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame, and she is considered one of the greatest children's books illustrators of all time. Clement C. Moore (1779-1863) was an American writer and scholar who specialized in divinity and ancient languages. "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" was first attributed to Moore in print in 1837, though Henry Livingston Jr. (1748-1828) may have been the true author.
