This book deals with the concept of medical ultrasound imaging and discusses array signal processing in ultrasound. Signal processing using different beamforming techniques in order to achieve a desirable reconstructed image and, consequently, obtain useful information about the imaging medium is the main focus of this book. In this regard, the principles of image reconstruction techniques in ultrasound imaging are fully described, and the required processing steps are completely expanded and analyzed in detail. Simulation results to compare the performance of different beamformers are also included in this book to visualize their differences to the reader. Other advanced techniques in the field of medical ultrasound data processing, as well as their corresponding recent achievements, are also presented in this book. Simply put, in this book, processing of medical ultrasound data from different aspects and acquiring information from them in different manners are covered and organized in different chapters. Before going through the detailed explanation in each chapter, it gives the reader an overview of the considered issue and focuses hisher mind on the challenge ahead. The contents of the book are also presented in such a way that they are easy for the reader to understand. This book is recommended for researchers who study medical ultrasound data processing.

About the author

Babak Mohammadzadeh Asl is Associate Professor of biomedical engineering in Tarbiat Modares University (TMU). He is currently Associate Dean in Research of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research has been focused on medical ultrasound within the areas of beamforming and array signal processing. Specifically, the focus of his research has been on the implementation of adaptive beamforming methods in ultrasound imaging and vector flow imaging and solving the limitations and requirements of applying these methods in the field of medical ultrasound. Dr. Asl has worked continuously in this field since 2006 and supervised 9 Ph.D. students and 50 M.Sc. students. He has awarded as Distinguished Researcher and Distinguished Professor of TMU in 2017 and 2019, respectively, and as Distinguished Professor in education of TMU in 2020. According to the Stanford's list of world's top 2% most-cited scientists (2022), he ranked among the top 2% of highly citedscientists.

Roya Paridar received the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran, in 2019. Currently, she is pursuing the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering at Tarbiat Modares University. Her research interests include medical ultrasound signal processing and ultrafast imaging. She is with the department of biomedical engineering at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran.
