Zusatztext A fabulous and essential resource for enthusiasts of the region's birds at all levels! ranging from the armchair aficionado to the diehard birder to the sophisticated ornithologist. Informationen zum Autor Bart de Boer is a Dutch ornithologist and co-author of Birds of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire . He previously wrote a photographic guide to the birds of the Netherlands Antilles. Eric Newton is an ornithologist based on Curaçao in the Dutch Caribbean. Robin Restall (1937–2023) was an author and illustrator. Originally a draughtsman, Robin’s development as an ornithology artist began with his love of cagebirds, which led to his first book, Munias and Mannikins (1996). He became a Research Associate at the Phelp Ornithological Collection in Caracas, Venezuela, where he conceived and painted the art for his masterpiece, the two-volume Birds of Northern South America , which featured his illustrations of 2,300 species. Published in 2006, this book remains a magnificent testament to Robin’s powers of observation and illustration. It went on to provide the basis for several other field guides, notably to Ecuador and Venezuela, both of which remain the standard works. Klappentext This is the first ever comprehensive field guide dedicated to the birds of the Netherlands Antilles. The Netherlands Antilles comprises three main islands off the coast of northern Venezuela. These are Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. They are major tourist destinations, especially popular with divers, and also attract many visitors from Holland and elsewhere. The colour plates are based on the bestselling Birds of Northern South America , but many new images have been painted specially for this book. The authoritative text highlights the key features needed to identify each species in the field, and the plates illustrate every distinct plumage and race.
