Photoconductivity is the phenomenon of enhancement of conductivity due to irradiation of light photons. Further, photoluminescence is the phenomenon of emission oflight in the visible or near visible region due to excitation of light photons. Both these phenomena involve processes like excitation, recombination and trapping of carriers etc. The present thesis is concerned with mainly photoconductivity and photoluminescence studies of (Cd- Pb )S : CdC12 ,Y ICe films prepared by chemical deposition technique. Results of optical absorption spectra, XRD and SEM studies are also presented for characterization of materials of present investigation.
