"A former president of Indiana University writes a secret novel...about being a university president. Originally written under a pseudonym, The Search tells the story of Charlie Rosen, president of the fictional Nebraska State University. His antagonist is "Buddy" Knowland, legendary football coach at Nebraska State and also the athletic director. Knowland is a foul-mouthed bully and misogynist, but also the most successful coach in Nebraska State history. Knowland dies suddenly of a heart attack during a football game, but his ghost haunts Rosen throughout the novel. Rosen's six-month search for a new football coach/athletic director who will satisfy the University trustees becomes an epic, truly revealing tale of the challenges and rewards, crises and duties, facing university presidents."--
