This study evaluated the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties of hydroalcoholic extracts and fractions of Ixora coccinea L. The hydroalcoholic extracts were obtained by maceration of Ixora coccinea flowers, and the fractions by liquid/liquid partition. Chemical characterization was performed by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC/MS). Assays were carried out to evaluate antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activity. The Effective Concentration - EC 50 was quantified to classify the potential of the chemical and biological activities evaluated. By HPLC/MS, catechol was quantified as the major component of the hydroalcoholic extract (59.50%). In the antioxidant assay, all the EC50 ranged between 6.45 and 87.15 ppm, classifying all the observed concentrations as very active. For the anti-inflammatory assay, the EC50 ranged from 32.27 to 198.06 ppm. For the anti-arthritic assay, the EC50 ranged from 10.76 to 66.02 ppm.
