Obesity is a major public health problem. Its impact on pregnant patients is also a cause for concern, due to the numerous maternal and fetal complications.Following this case-control study comparing 209 obese women (BMI >= 30 kg/m²)versus 209 non-obese women (BMI < 30 kg/m²), we retained the following findings: - The course of the current pregnancy was marked by a higher risk of gestational diabetes dysgravidia and preeclampsia in obese women.- In obese women, we found a higher frequency of induction of labor, direction of labor and mechanical dystocia. - Obesity in pregnant women increases the risk of both maternal and neonatal complications. These data justify specific management of the obese patient before and during pregnancy.
