Wastewater treatment using wetlands - Sub surface flow wetlands

As a means and purpose of wastewater treatment and to minimize operating costs, sub-surface flow wetlands are the most recommended. They are efficient in reducing organic load, fecal coliforms, nitrates, phosphates. The present project was implemented in an area with an annual temperature of approximately 12 ºC, with an efficiency of 92% in the reduction of BOD and COD.
