Since the first warnings in the United States in the 1960s, with biologist Rachel Carson's book on DDT, many active substances have been denounced as disrupting the agricultural system, but more globally affecting abiotic factors (soil, air, water) and biotic factors (human and non-human living beings). The use of synthetic pesticides as production tools in Western countries is currently raising many questions within society and the farming profession. During the course of this study, we took part in conferences and met with a number of stakeholders, which enabled us to identify a live social issue with systemic implications. Certain dominant models (conventional agriculture, precision agriculture, high environmental value agriculture, conservation agriculture) continue to apply synthetic pesticides, with numerous impacts on the territory. In these studies, which are not exhaustive, the impact of synthetic pesticides is examined from a global perspective.
