About the author

Achilles Tatius (2nd century C.E.) was an ancient Greek novelist. Born in Alexandria, Tatius is an enigmatic historical figure known only for The Love of Clitophon and Leucippe, a classic work of romance and adventure. Although some traditions claim that Achilles Tatius became a Christian bishop, it is widely recognized that nothing is certain about him beyond his name, birthplace, and authorship.
