In this book, an attempt has been made to simulate thunderstorm events and their thermodynamic features using the WRF-ARW model in a single domain of 9 kilometers of horizontal resolution over Bangladesh. In this study, a 48-hour run was done with 30/60-minute output data intervals by using GFS and/or FNL datasets. The model performance was done by analyzing different meteorological parameters. For the validation of the model-simulated different weather parameters have also been compared with the 3 hourly observed values provided by Bangladesh Meteorological Department, for instance, mean sea level pressure, temperature and relative humidity at 2-m height, and rainfall. It is found that the model simulated result is good enough to predict thunderstorm events over Bangladesh, particularly Bogura, Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Khulna. By way of conclusion, the result of the current investigations will help to detect thunderstorms precisely to forecast the weather timely to minimize the destruction of the environment and death of human beings.

Mr. Tanvir Islam Rajib received his BSc (Hons), MSc, and MPhil degrees in Physics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. In the fall of 2022, Mr. Rajib embarked on his Ph.D. journey in Physics at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. Currently, his research interests revolve around Nonlinear Optics.
