 It's been centuries since The Orisha--gods who once ruled over humanity and maintained peace- mysteriously disappeared from Ife. In their absence, military groups rose to fill the power vacuum and maintain order. One such group has come to be known as The Sarai. Masks of The Orisha is the story of three young adults; Gado, Ambu, and Towa, whose lives are drastically changed upon joining The Sarai--forcing them to question to what extent will they go to protect the people they love.

In volume one of this saga, we follow our young protagonists as they prepare to complete their Sarai entrance exam. However, the trials that they encounter during this exam prove to be far beyond the realm of anything they were trained to handle…


About the author

Hotep Anthony is the author of Masks of the Orisha. With a love for manga and anime, a B.S. in Finance, and a Masters in Business Administration, Hotep decided to find a way to mix his passion for storytelling with his knack for business. As co-founder of Macchiato Studios and the lead writer, Hotep strives to break down barriers and open doors in the budding industry that is black-owned manga. Roland Broussard is the illustrator of Masks of the Orisha and co-founder of Macchiato Studios. As a self-taught colorist who stands on the shoulders of legends such as Dwayne McDuffie, Marte Garcia, and Alex St. Clair, Roland Broussard strives to bring color to the manga industry--in more ways than one.
